Wow, my first blog on this website! Admittedly, I'm writing this because I'm overwhelmed with the rest of the website. I don't have enough photos, I feel anxious having to upload the music from numerous projects I've worked in, I don't know how I actually want to design this site to fit my needs… and I really need a bio, but who likes writing about themselves? Ironically that's what I'm doing right now, lol… but you get my point.
Being a musician is challenging. One of the challenges is how much stuff you have to do that isn't the music part. Like designing websites, booking shows, managing social media, promotion, and so much more. Very interesting time to be an artist. We have a lot of freedom, but so much stuff that we need to do in order to find success. That's how it is for anyone who owns their own business though - I'm sure if my product were peanut butter cakes (yum, I'm hungry…) I'd be in the same boat.
Anyway, this year has been busy for me musically. Here are some highlights:
I've released my first two singles as a solo artist!
1) This Game
2) You Know
They've been well received, and it was quite the experience to write, sing, and play all the instruments myself. It's been a goal of mine for a decade, and this year I finally pulled the trigger on doing it and putting my songs out there! I have a third song in the process of mixing, and plenty more songs that will be recorded in the future.
Lady Chops & the Goddamn Jam is releasing our record one song at a time. Currently we've released 5 of 8, and the feedback from people has been wonderful. We've had a bit of airplay, some reviews, and we've played a number of shows with some awesome bands.
I played on the news with Erica Michelle this year. That was a neat experience.
I have some end of the year recording sessions coming up - doing work for my friend Ethan, and also for a band called TV Wonder.
There's a number of shows coming up between now and the end of the year, and I'm sure more will trickle in. It's been a busy year, and hopefully next year brings even more cool opportunities my way!
Thanks for reading.
